“Navigating success in pharma: Dr. P Singa Ram’s journey from FMT to corporate leadership”

  1. Can you please introduce yourself to our readers, highlighting your professional journey and key accomplishments, and how they have shaped your leadership style today?

Hi..Myself  Dr P Singa Ram. After Completion of my MBA I joined with Dr Reddys Lab as an FMT ( Field Management Trainee) from where I grew as an Area Manager, Top Achiever of the Territory, Elite Achiever and a Foreign trip qualifier. I served for a period of  19 Years 2 months and is best known for my people development and execution excellence.

  1. Having earned certifications such as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and IICA Certified Independent Director, how have these credentials influenced your approach to management and governance?

There is a complete paradigm shift in my approach after earning certification of LSSBB. My approach towards streamlining a process has completely changed. What I thought was impossible in the real world can be changed and aligned to its best performance with least defects by adopting the Lean and Six Sigma approach.

  1. IICA Certified Independent Director Certification influenced me a lot and it gave a clear understanding of the role and responsibilities of an ID in the real corporate world and board room. The preparation for ID certification broadened my view regarding corporate governance.

As a Senior Manager at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, you’ve been overseeing operations for more than two years. Can you share some insights into the challenges and achievements you’ve experienced during this tenure?

The major challenges are like new territory, new people, training needs and meeting up the customer requirements. Right identification of customer needs and fulfilling them with continuous fulfillment of ROI has always been the major challenge. Still as Channel Sales Area Manager I continuously kept achieving my targets month after month for the entire period.

  1. In your role, you ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements while striving for business excellence. How do you strike a balance between these two crucial aspects in the pharmaceutical industry?

Major crux of ensuring compliance is adhering to the basics. The Basic job requirements and expectations of the company ensures best compliance adherence and that is the way to strive for business excellence. Ensuring execution of what is expected of us by seniors and company and doing and ensuring the team doing what is expected is the crucial and best way to grow any business.

  1. As someone passionate about creating a collaborative team environment, could you share an example of a team accomplishment that you’re particularly proud of during your tenure at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories?

I am always passionate about creating a collaborative team environment. During 2013-14 we had a challenge in hand to “Exit by Dec” which seemed to be impossible when it was announced, but as a collaborative team we could do it. Keep team vision clear and by simplifying the daily targets it was possible and we achieved by end of December the annual target.

  1. Given your extensive experience in market analysis, how do you stay updated on industry trends, and how has this knowledge contributed to your strategic planning and decision-making processes?

I always believe that market analysis gives us the right direction to pave your way. I refer to related documents and reports on a regular basis to keep myself updated and guide team for better strategic planning and decision making

  1. In addition to your professional achievements, we’re curious about your personal interests. What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of the corporate world?

I am a keen book reader and I set a target to complete a book every 10/15 days. I love listening to music to relax. I love travelling as well and discovering new places.

  1. Given your extensive experience, what advice would you offer to the upcoming generation of professionals aspiring to excel in the fields of operations management and business development?

My advice to upcoming generations is to consider Work as Worship and devote themselves to the duty, keep upgrading their knowledge in their respective domains and keep growing in their respective fields.
