Easiest way to win trust as an academic writer

A lot of professors, think tank heads, corporate executives in charge of research and development, professionals in innovative fields (basically all your potential clients as an academic writer) want to appear on top podcasts.

Why?

  • To increase the visibility and real-world impact of their research
  • To attract funding and policy attention
  • To build public credibility
  • To reach audiences beyond academic journals – policymakers, industry leaders, and the media

Podcasts also help them humanize complex ideas, amplify their personal brand, and open doors to collaborations, consulting, and speaking opportunities.

But many of them do not know how to get featured on popular podcasts.

Can you help them with that?

This is how you do it:

Step 1: Getting started

  1. Make a list of 30 podcasts where the potential client may want to appear.
  2. Find out who the host is.
  3. Ignore other people like the producer, etc.

You are going to write to the host.

Step 2: Reach out to the host

Here are some actual messages our CEO wrote to podcast hosts in the US that got accepted:

We teach our students to do this.

Step 3: Find a client to pitch to

They need to network with US professors, academics, think tank associates, owners of writing agencies, and executives in corporate R&D.

But why would these people talk to a random Indian academic writer? What is your way in?

You send an email saying:

Dear [name (with honorifics, like Dr., Prof., if any)],

I loved your recent interview/publication/research paper, etc/Congrats on winning the XYZ [if it is some award]! – [Always start with appreciation – related to something truly worthy of praise]

I help professionals like you to get into the world’s top podcasts relevant to <industry>, which massively helps their personal brand.

I have helped _ people to do exactly that. Look at the kind of coverage they got here, here, and here <attach links>.

<Your name>

We have helped students from India to do this for startup founders, small business owners, and professionals who need such exposure. And then they charge 1000 USD to get them invited to 20 podcasts.

Now we are teaching academic writers to do that for professors, corporate executives who are into research and development, think tanks, agencies, and other potential clients.

Also, it is not just about money.

More importantly, this creates a connection, a relationship, while they coordinate all these podcast interviews. Which can then lead to other opportunities for them.

When they are looking for academic writers to assist them, you will be the first name on their minds – it will lead to amazing work opportunities!

It can be for any project – grant writing, whitepaper writing, case study writing, editing of research papers, citations, anything!

It can also help you get referrals from them, which will also help you get more work.

Isn’t it cool?

Easy money. Better networking.
