That number comes from
the seventh edition of Salesforce’s
State of Sales research,
published in 2026 and built on responses from more than 4,000 sales professionals. Remote sales
operations jobs from India exist because of that 60%. Somebody has to own the forecasting, the
pipeline hygiene, the quota and territory maths, the deal approvals and the weekly reporting, and
none of that work requires being in a room with a customer.

Here’s what actually moves the seat. The people whose time the 60% describes are expensive: US
sales managers averaged $169,490 a year across 1,032,320 jobs, and sales representatives of
services averaged $82,430 across 1,256,010 jobs, on the
May 2025 figures from the US Bureau of Labor
Statistics. Every hour those people spend cleaning CRM records is an hour billed at a selling
salary for administrative output. Sales operations is the function that buys those hours back, and
it’s almost entirely screen work.

Worth flagging before any of the numbers below: no independent dataset prices the India-based
remote seat serving a US revenue team (and the firms that do quote one are usually selling
offshore teams). What can be measured is the bracket it sits inside, so this article gives the US
benchmark and the Indian benchmark for each of the five seats and names the sample behind both.
Where a figure doesn’t exist, it says so.

The five seats differ far more than the shared job family suggests. One opens to a fresher with no
revenue experience, one has a published exam with a fixed fee, one is closed to anyone who can’t
work a synchronous US afternoon, and one is a promotion rather than an entry point.

Table of Contents

The five remote sales operations jobs from India

Sales operations representative

Sales operations analyst

CRM administrator

Deal desk analyst

Revenue operations manager

How remote sales operations jobs from India are filled

SkillArbitrage courses and adjacent remote roles

Questions people ask about sales operations roles

Disclaimer

The five remote sales operations jobs from India

The five remote sales operations jobs from India are the sales operations representative, the
sales operations analyst, the CRM administrator, the deal desk analyst and the revenue operations
manager. Salesforce names four of them directly in its own
breakdown of the function,
which defines sales operations as work that “uses systems and technology to ensure that sales
teams reach their targets” and splits the team into a VP or director, a manager, a representative
and an analyst. The fifth, revenue operations, sits a layer above all of them (and in a company
under about 200 people it is usually the same person wearing a different title).

None of the five is a selling job. That distinction matters more than any other line in this
article, because the role Indian applicants most often confuse with sales operations is the
sales development representative seat,
which carries a quota, makes outbound contact and is paid partly on what it closes. Sales
operations carries no quota and speaks to no prospects. So what is actually being hired?

Two anchors bracket the money before the individual seats are worth reading:

United States

India

Source

Talent.com US, sales operations analyst

Talent.com India, sales operations

Sample

10,000 salaries

10,000 salaries

Average

$69,544 a year

₹350,000 a year

Entry level

$49,325

₹237,500

Experienced

up to $115,478

up to ₹410,000

Hourly

$35.19

₹140

The India column is mostly domestic sales support: local teams, local customers, local currency.
And the US column is the seat being replaced. An India-based person working a US revenue team’s
process is priced somewhere between the two, and how far from the Indian column the offer lands
depends almost entirely on which of the five seats it is.

Sales operations representative

The sales operations representative is the entry-level seat, and Salesforce describes it as
tracking, data entry, reporting and administrative support. In practice that means keeping the
CRM’s records true: merging duplicate accounts, closing opportunities that reps abandoned three
quarters ago, chasing missing close dates, and rebuilding the list views that everyone else reads
in the morning.

It’s unglamorous, and it’s also the only one of the five that reliably opens to someone with no
prior revenue experience. The Indian entry anchor of ₹237,500 from Talent.com’s 10,000-salary
sample is the domestic floor for this kind of work, and it’s a floor rather than a forecast. But a
seat attached to a US team pays above that floor, because the hours aren’t Indian hours and the
employer is pricing against a US alternative rather than a local one.

What the seat actually tests is tolerance for repetitive precision. And the failure mode is
predictable: somebody who treats CRM hygiene as clerical work does it once, well, then stops doing
it weekly, at which point the forecast built on top of it is wrong. Based on what we’ve seen,
that is the commonest reason a first offshore ops hire is not renewed.

The line between this seat and a general virtual assistant seat matters, because the two overlap
heavily on the job boards. A virtual assistant works a defined queue: inbox, calendar, travel,
document formatting. A sales operations representative works one system and is measured on the
state of the data inside it, which means write access to records that carry revenue numbers and a
weekly report that somebody senior reads.

Sales operations analyst

The sales operations analyst uses CRM data to recommend improvements and create performance
reports, in Salesforce’s own description of the role. This is the seat most remote listings mean
when they advertise sales operations, and it’s where the reporting skill starts to carry real
money.

Talent.com’s US page for the title, drawn from 10,000 salaries, puts the average at $69,544, with
entry level at $49,325 and the experienced end at $115,478, or $35.19 an hour (the hourly figure
is the one to keep, since contract work is priced that way). That range is the most useful number
here, because it’s what a US employer avoids paying when the work is done from Pune or
Coimbatore.

Here’s the thing about the technical bar: it’s narrower than most course marketing suggests. An
analyst needs to build reports and dashboards inside the CRM, write spreadsheet logic that
survives someone else opening it, and produce the same views in a BI tool, which is why
Power BI reporting work
overlaps heavily with this seat on the skills side. SQL is useful rather than mandatory below
manager level.

In practice, though, scope is what gets underestimated. Salesforce lists four things the function
exists to do: make the sales process more efficient by automating manual work, find and scale the
behaviours
that work across the rest of the team, report on performance through forecasts and metrics, and
lead sales planning, which covers territory, capacity, quota and compensation. An analyst touches
all four. But quota and territory planning are the ones that reshape the calendar: they’re annual
exercises running on spreadsheets and historical attainment data, and they look nothing like the
weekly reporting rhythm around them.

Here is where the job becomes concrete. An analyst is generally handed a pipeline nobody trusts
and asked to make it reliable, and the first move is a written hygiene rule the CRM can enforce
without anyone remembering to run it. For example: flag every opportunity where the stage is
Negotiation, the close date has passed, and there has been no logged activity for fourteen days,
then route that list to the rep’s manager every Monday at 09:00 Eastern. One rule, one schedule,
one owner. And that’s the level of specificity a hiring manager is listening for.

CRM administrator

The CRM administrator configures the platform the other four seats depend on, and it’s the one
sales operations job with a published, priced credential attached. Salesforce’s
Certified Platform Administrator exam
runs 60 multiple-choice questions plus up to five unscored ones over 105 minutes, costs US$200 to
register and US$100 to retake, and requires a passing score of 68% on the English version. There
are no prerequisites. Salesforce recommends six or more months of experience as an administrator
before sitting it (a recommendation rather than a gate, so nothing stops a candidate booking the
exam early).

The exam outline is a fair map of what the seat does. Data and analytics management carries the
largest weight at 17%, configuration and setup and object manager each carry 15%, automation
carries another 15%, and Agentforce carries 8%, which tells you where the platform is heading. The
remaining weight splits three ways at 10% each: sales and marketing applications, service and
support applications, and productivity and collaboration.

Read that distribution as a warning against the usual preparation mistake, which is treating the
exam as a clicking test. Data management and automation alone account for 32% of it, against 30%
for configuration, setup and object manager combined.

Anyone weighing this route against a general sales operations path should read the
Salesforce administrator route for Indian freshers
alongside it, because the two roles are adjacent rather than identical.

Salesforce is not the only stack. HubSpot reported
306,446 customers as of 30 June 2026,
up 14% year on year, at an average subscription revenue per customer of $11,800. That’s a large
installed base of smaller companies, and smaller companies are the ones most likely to hire a
part-time or contract administrator rather than a full-time one.

The practical reality is that a HubSpot-only administrator competes for a different and more
contract-shaped market than a Salesforce-certified one. We’d recommend picking the stack the
target employers actually run rather than the one with the better-known certificate.

Deal desk analyst

The deal desk analyst sits on the approval path for non-standard deals. Salesforce defines a deal
desk as “a cross-functional team that streamlines the closing of sales complex and non-standard
deals, handling everything from quote to cash”, staffed by representatives from sales operations,
finance, legal and sometimes marketing. The analyst on that desk checks pricing against current
guidelines, routes approvals, verifies discount thresholds with finance and flags contract risk
with legal.

Now, here’s where it gets interesting. This is the seat where the timezone stops being a
scheduling inconvenience and becomes the job itself. Approvals are synchronous by nature, and a
rep with a signature due on Friday can’t wait eleven and a half hours for a discount check (and
quarter-end is worse, because everything lands inside the same 48 hours). An India-based deal desk
analyst either works the US afternoon or works a documented handoff, and the second only holds
when the approval matrix is written down well enough that a decision can be made without a
conversation.

But deal desk work turns out to be unusually portable. It runs on pricing rules, an approval
matrix and a quote tool, all of which are documented artefacts rather than relationships, and none
of which needs the analyst to have met the customer.

The economics behind the offshoring are visible in the BLS numbers quoted at the top. A US sales
manager averaging $169,490 a year is an expensive person to have reading discount requests, and a
deal desk exists partly to take that reading off the manager’s desk. Move the desk itself to a
lower-cost location and the saving compounds. That’s the honest reason these seats open to India,
and a candidate who understands it interviews better than one who doesn’t.

Revenue operations manager

The revenue operations manager owns the process across the whole revenue lifecycle rather than
inside one deal. Salesforce draws the line plainly: deal desks “focus on individual deal
workflows, pricing, and approvals, while RevOps teams oversee broader sales processes, including
forecasting, analytics, and team alignment across the entire revenue lifecycle”. Marketing and
customer success sit inside that scope alongside sales.

The real question is whether the seat is worth aiming at, and the case is well documented.
Salesforce reports that 85% of sales professionals agree sales operations is increasingly
strategic, and cites McKinsey for a 20% to 30% productivity leap
at companies running world-class sales operations teams. Two further findings from the 2026 State
of Sales research explain why: sales leaders estimate 19% of their company’s data is inaccessible,
and 40% of sales professionals working under usage-based pricing name revenue forecasting as a top
challenge.

The catch? Entry. This is a manager-level seat almost nobody reaches from outside, and the
realistic route runs two to four years through one of the four seats above.

Free groundwork does exist. HubSpot Academy’s
Revenue Operations certification runs seven
hours and costs nothing, and its Sales Hub Software certification runs two. But neither
substitutes for having actually rebuilt a forecast that was wrong.

Fair warning: the competition is real. Salesforce counts 3.3 million people carrying a sales
operations job title on LinkedIn, a large pool for a function that produces few manager seats per
company. A smarter strategy is to specialise sideways rather than upward: the analyst who owns
forecasting for a single business unit and can explain the model in an interview has a clearer
path than the one who has touched every process shallowly.

Remote sales operations jobs from India

The five seats, priced and gated

One function, five different jobs. jobs from India are filled

Remote sales operations jobs from India are filled through three routes, and the route decides the
money, the paperwork and the ceiling far more than the job title does.

The first is the global capability centre. The
Zinnov-Nasscom India GCC Landscape 2026
counts 2,117 GCCs operating 3,728 units in India, employing 2.36 million people and earning $98.4
billion, with 506 Forbes Global 2000 companies running one and 32% growth in centre count since
FY2021, measured as of March 2026.

Quick context before the other two routes: that report publishes no split by business function, so
the share of those 2.36 million sitting in sales operations is not a number anyone can honestly
quote. What the GCC route does fix is the employment shape. These are captive employers, so the
payroll is Indian, the process is the parent company’s, and the hiring runs on Indian notice
periods and Indian interview loops. But it’s the most stable of the three routes, as well as the
slowest to enter.

The second is a direct contract with the overseas company. The company pays an invoice rather than
a salary, which means no provident fund, no gratuity and no notice period, and it means the
contractor files IRS Form W-8BEN, the
“Certificate of Foreign Status of Beneficial Owner for United States Tax Withholding and Reporting
(Individuals)”, before the first payout clears. The mechanics of
receiving international payments in India
are a separate problem worth solving before the first invoice rather than after it (the name on
the receiving account has to match the name on the invoice exactly).

The third is an employer of record or an offshore staffing firm, where a local entity employs the
person and bills the overseas client. It pays less than a direct contract and more than a domestic
seat, and it removes the compliance work. We’d treat it as a first job, not a destination.

Pricing the contract route is where most people either undershoot or guess. The two anchors are
already on the table: $35.19 an hour on the US side of Talent.com’s data, ₹140 an hour on the
Indian side. Converted at any rate the rupee has traded at recently, the first is more than twenty
times the second, and nobody closes a gap that wide in one move.

But the lever deciding where a contract lands between those two numbers is scope, not hours. A
contractor who owns the forecast is priced differently from one who updates records, even when the
weekly hours are identical.

And then there’s the clock. US Eastern business hours of 09:00 to 17:00 fall between 18:30 and
02:30 IST during daylight saving time, and between 19:30 and 03:30 IST outside it (the shift moves
twice a year, so a contract written against a fixed IST window will drift). Pacific hours push
both windows three hours later. Most sales operations work is asynchronous, so the realistic ask is a four-hour overlap rather
than a full shift, and the seats demanding more are the deal desk and anything customer-facing.

What gets an application read? Not the certification on its own. A hiring manager scanning
remote roles at international startups
is looking for one line proving the candidate has moved a number inside a revenue system.

The shape to copy is this: rebuilt the weekly pipeline report for a 22-seat sales team in
Salesforce, cut stale open opportunities from 41% to 12% of pipeline value over one quarter, and
moved forecast variance from plus or minus 30% to plus or minus 9%. Swap in real figures from
real work. And the mistake we see most often is a CV listing tools instead of outcomes, which
reads identically to every other CV in the stack.

Interviews for these seats tend to circle two problems, and both are documented in the 2026 State
of Sales research. Sales leaders there estimate that 19% of their company’s data is inaccessible,
and 40% of sales professionals working under usage-based pricing name revenue forecasting as a top
challenge. A candidate who can describe a specific fix for either one, in that company’s stack, is answering
the question actually being asked. Candidates reciting the definition of a sales funnel are not.

SkillArbitrage courses and adjacent remote roles

Think of it this way: the skills inside sales operations aren’t specific to sales, which is why
the same groundwork opens several other remote seats. Reporting, process design and CRM logic all
transfer directly, and the programmes in the
SkillArbitrage catalogue are organised around those
transferable pieces rather than around job titles.

On the revenue side, AI-Driven Marketing & Sales Automation covers the automation layer that sales
operations builds and marketing operations inherits, and Strategic Sales Leadership covers the
pipeline and forecasting logic from the manager’s side of the table. Business Development & Client
Communication is the one that matters for anyone planning to contract directly, since winning and
keeping an overseas client is a separate skill from doing the work.

So what transfers on the analysis side? Strategic Business Analytics & BI and Financial & Data
Analytics teach the dashboard and modelling work a sales operations analyst does daily and that an
FP&A or business analyst seat also hires for. Startup Generalist & Virtual Assistant Training suits anyone targeting a small overseas company
where the ops seat covers several functions at once, and Strategic Operations Leadership for the
Digital Economy sits above all of them.

Two more are worth naming for anyone whose target is adjacent rather than identical. AI-Powered
Remote Accounting Automation and the Executive Certificate in US Accounting & Bookkeeping both
lead toward the finance-operations seats that sit beside revenue operations in most companies, and
they hire on the same reporting discipline. For the job-hunt mechanics, the International Job Hunt
Accelerator covers the application and interview process for overseas remote roles, and current
openings are listed on the SkillArbitrage Jobs board.

None of this replaces the work itself. The better approach, in our view, is to pick one programme
that closes a named gap in the CV line and then go and produce the artefact it teaches. A
credential moves a cold application from ignored to read, and the number in the CV line is what
moves it from read to interviewed.

Questions people ask about sales operations roles

Does a sales operations job need a sales background?

Four of the five seats need no selling experience at all, because none of them carries a quota or
contacts a prospect. What’s required is fluency in the system the sales team works inside, which
is why analysts and administrators are hired from reporting, MIS and support backgrounds far more
often than from field sales. The revenue operations manager seat is the exception, and even
there the usual route runs through operations rather than selling.

Is a Salesforce certification enough on its own?

The Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator credential costs US$200 and requires 68% on the
English version, and Salesforce itself recommends six or more months of hands-on experience before
sitting it. That recommendation is the answer: the certificate proves platform knowledge, not that
the candidate has fixed anything. Pair it with a developer org you’ve actually configured and a
report you can walk through live.

How do India-based sales operations contractors handle the night shift?

US Eastern business hours run 18:30 to 02:30 IST under daylight saving and 19:30 to 03:30 IST
outside it, so a full overlap is rarely the arrangement. Most seats settle on a four-hour window,
typically the US morning, with the rest of the work done asynchronously. Deal desk roles are the
exception, since approvals are synchronous and a delayed discount check stalls a live deal.

What is the difference between sales operations and revenue operations?

Sales operations owns the sales team’s process: forecasting, territory and quota planning,
reporting, CRM configuration. Revenue operations owns the same process across marketing, sales
and customer success together, which Salesforce describes as overseeing forecasting, analytics and
team alignment across the entire revenue lifecycle. In smaller companies the two titles describe
one job, and in larger ones revenue operations sits a layer above.

Disclaimer

This article is for informational and educational purposes only and does not constitute
professional, financial, legal, tax or career advice.
